CWLRCP Condemns Murder of Disabled Young Woman from Hebron, Demands Full Justice

The Center for Women’s Legal Researches, Counselling and Protection (CWLRCP) condemns the heinous crime that claimed the life of a 21-year-old young woman with disabilities from the town of Yatta in Hebron. Police in Hebron have arrested the victim’s mother on suspicion of committing the murder under the pretext of so-called “family honor.”

The Center condemns this crime against a defenseless young woman with disabilities and denounces her mother for killing her instead of being her protector and defender. It also demands that the perpetrator and accomplices be punished. The Center calls on the official authorities to pursue the actual criminal who assaulted and raped the victim, exploiting her vulnerability due to her disability, so that he may serve as a deterrent to anyone who contemplates and commits such crimes, in order to achieve justice.

The Center for Women’s Legal Researches, Counselling and Protection (CWLRCP) believes that all official and non-governmental bodies should pay close attention to people with disabilities and give them special care and protection from all forms of violence. It calls for strict legal measures to stop all forms of violence against women, especially rape and murder, to prevent criminals from escaping punishment under the pretext of preserving family honor. Among these measures is the enforcement of the law, considering the killings of women as premeditated murder and rejecting any mitigating excuses that allow criminals to escape punishment.
