For the fourth consecutive day, the Gaza Strip has been enduring a ferocious Zionist war, in which Israeli forces have deployed all types of weaponry, from missiles and bombs to artillery shells, relentlessly raining down on the Strip. This onslaught has claimed the lives of hundreds of innocent civilians – the elderly, children, women, and youth – adding to the ranks of bereaved mothers and widows, leaving thousands of children orphaned, and causing injuries to thousands more who struggle to access medical treatment and medication. Concurrently, thousands of buildings and educational, community, and economic facilities have been destroyed, and thousands of acres of agricultural land along the border have been razed. This brutal assault comes at a time when the Strip has already been subjected to a tight political, security, and economic blockade for many months, resulting in severe shortages of food supplies, medicine, fuel, and energy sources of all kinds, transforming the cities and villages of the Strip into ghost towns and ruins permeated with the stench of death and gunpowder.
The ongoing aggression against the Gaza Strip constitutes a grave violation of human rights and all international conventions that call for the protection of civilians in times of war. However, this is all unfolding before the eyes and ears of the world, without cessation, deterrent, or aid, save for statements of condemnation and denunciation from international and Arab humanitarian organizations and the bombastic pronouncements of some Arab officials. Meanwhile, Arab regimes allied with the United States and Europe are failing to persuade their allies to halt this insane war or even issue a statement condemning Israel at the UN Security Council.
The various United Nations organizations, foremost among them human rights organizations, are urged today to take the initiative to pressure the Security Council to issue an urgent resolution to stop the barbaric Israeli aggression against our Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip – a defenseless people facing a Zionist war machine that seeks to destroy our beloved Strip as part of a Zionist scheme aimed at exterminating the Palestinian people and ending their national cause, as well as the primary cause of the Arabs, for which our Arab peoples have struggled and made great sacrifices.
We, at CWLRCP in Gaza – Palestine, call upon all Palestinian organizations and factions, as well as the governments in Gaza and Ramallah, to stand up to their national responsibilities and make a courageous decision to renounce internal disputes and achieve national unity in order to confront the brutal enemy that is waging a war of extermination against our people, authority, and national cause. We also call upon all human rights and international organizations to take action at the official and popular levels to take a genuine initiative to defend human rights violated in the Gaza Strip by the racist Zionist forces.
