The Center for Women’s Legal Researches, Counselling and Protection (CWLRCP), along with several women’s organizations including the Culture and Free Thought Association from Gaza, the Family Defense Association in Nablus, and the Axis Center in Beit Sahour, conducted a visit to several shelters for battered women in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.
This was part of a reciprocal visit coordinated by the CWLRCP within the framework of the project “A Holistic Approach to Comprehensive Protection Services for Battered and Surviving Women in Palestine,” in partnership with UN Women and funded by the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation.
The General Union of Jordanian Women hosted the delegation and coordinated with organizations working in the field of women’s protection in Jordan to implement a number of activities and meetings. These activities and meetings aimed to discuss the conditions and issues of women in Palestine and Jordan. The first of these activities, a seminar, was held today.
The CWLRCP team, represented by its Board Chair, Ms. Islah Hassanieh, and the Culture and Free Thought Association, represented by its director, Ms. Mariam Zaqout, visited both the Safe House belonging to the Family Defense Association in Nablus and the Axis Center in Beit Sahour.
Discussions focused on the mechanisms of action of these institutions, interventions related to protecting women from violence, and presentations of experiences.
