Psychologist Position (1) – Job Announcement

**Job Announcement: Psychologist (1 Position)**

The Center for Women’s Legal Researches, Counselling and Protection (CWLRCP) is a feminist center that provides counselling, services, and legal education to women. It also offers protection to abused women, survivors of violence, and their children. Through its various programs and activities, the Center seeks to develop community awareness and embody the recognition that women are fundamental partners with men in society, possessing equal rights.

The Center announces the need to recruit one (1) Psychologist to work at the Hayat Center for the Protection and Empowerment of Women and Families. “Hayat” is a multi-purpose center that includes sheltering for abused women and providing legal, social, and psychological support, as well as family meeting services.

**Nature of the Job:** Subject to the following conditions:

  • Job Title: Psychologist, Full-Time Position.
  • Contract Duration: 6 Months.
  • Purpose of the Job:

    • Night supervision in the shelter section (overnight stay required).
    • Providing individual and group psychological support and therapy to women and children who are victims of violence.
    • Understanding how to deal with child victims of psychological and sexual violence and knowledge of psychological intervention mechanisms with them.
    • Knowledge of applying psychological tests related to children’s psychological scales.
    • Providing guidance.
    • Maintaining files.
    • Preparing reports.

**Essential Qualifications and Experience:**

  • University degree in Psychology, Master’s degree preferred (in psychotherapy or psychoanalysis).
  • Proven experience of no less than three years in supporting women and children who are victims of violence and providing therapy to them.
  • Good knowledge in supporting women prisoners and residents in shelters, preferably with experience in this field.
  • Experience in leading therapeutic groups, especially self-help groups, is preferred.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the Palestinian context, especially the existing health and social systems.
  • Knowledge of innovative and advanced practices (even internationally) in providing support and treatment to abused women and children.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the environment and dynamics prevailing in any shelter for victims of violence.
  • Experience in volunteer work in supporting women or other experiences in working with or for women is particularly preferred.
  • Teamwork skills.
  • Networking skills.
  • Knowledge of basic computer skills.
  • Excellent command of Arabic, both written and spoken, and proficiency in English is preferred.

**Skills and Competencies:**

  • Strong motivation to work with women, a deep understanding of women’s environments and needs, and the ability to develop resources for the benefit of women from a feminist perspective.
  • The ability to adopt innovative/specific practices to support the psychological safety of women and children who are victims of violence.
  • The ability to promote solidarity on an ongoing basis and avoid competitive behaviors.
  • Orientation and ability to work in a team.
  • Strong diplomatic and communication skills.
  • Ability to mediate in case of conflicts and conflict management skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and make decisions in crisis situations.
  • The ability to develop and implement innovative practices to better serve women’s needs.
  • The ability to work with children and adolescents.
