CWLRCP Completes First Phase of Gaza Field Workshops

The Center for Women’s Legal Researches, Counselling and Protection (CWLRCP) concluded field workshops conducted within civil society organizations in the Gaza Governorate, as part of the project “Combating Root Causes in Addressing Violence Against Women in the Gaza Strip,” funded by the Feminist Peace Foundation. The project aims to contribute to the prevention of gender-based violence and increase access to justice and comprehensive protection for women and girls who are survivors of gender-based violence in the Gaza Strip, in accordance with international human rights frameworks and agreements.

Project Coordinator Wafaa Helles noted that (10) field workshops were conducted in the Gaza Governorate, targeting (282) young male and female students from various universities, including (169) female students and (113) male students. The workshops focused on gender-based violence and introducing the services of the CWLRCP and the “Hayat” project for the protection and empowerment of women and families.

Helles explained that all preventive and protective measures were followed to prevent the spread of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) by distributing medical masks, providing hand sanitization, and ensuring social distancing among attendees. Therefore, the workshops were divided and their duration reduced to minimize the number of attendees in each session to ensure the safety of all participants.
