Within the framework of the “Protection and Empowerment of Women in the Gaza Strip” project, The Center for Women’s Legal Researches, Counselling and Protection (CWLRCP) is providing comprehensive protection services for women survivors of violence and women with disabilities.
The Center for Women’s Legal Researches, Counselling and Protection (CWLRCP) has been able to provide comprehensive protection services to women survivors of violence and women with disabilities by offering legal, psychological, social, and health support. This is being done as part of the “Protection and Empowerment of Women in the Gaza Strip” project, funded by the United Nations Humanitarian Fund projects. Through this project, the Center aims to improve access to comprehensive protection services based on human rights standards for women and girls who are victims and survivors of violence in the Gaza Strip. Project Coordinator Wafaa Helles indicated that, through the project, the Center has been able to provide legal support (legal representation) to (191) women survivors of violence before Sharia courts in various cases (divorce, custody, alimony, child visitation, etc.) in the five governorates of the Gaza Strip. In addition, legal consultations were provided to (646) women and men. She explained that psychological, social, and health support services were provided to a total of (100) women survivors of violence, including (34) women victims of physical, psychological, and sexual violence who received psychological and social support. Furthermore, health support was provided to (52) women survivors of violence and women with disabilities. These women were targeted through workshops implemented in the project in the five governorates of the Gaza Strip in coordination with institutions specializing in people with disabilities, or women who visit the Center or the “Hayat” project for the protection and empowerment of women and families. This aims to provide them with the necessary health services (diapers, medications, various medical examinations, eyeglasses), and this was done through prior identification of their needs, in order to provide comprehensive services.
