CWLRCP Concludes Training for New Palestinian Police Recruits

Continuing its Series of Training Programs: The Center for Women’s Legal Researches, Counselling and Protection Concludes Two Training Courses for New Recruits in the Palestinian Police Force

The Center for Women’s Legal Researches, Counselling and Protection (CWLRCP) concluded two training programs for new recruits in the Palestinian Police, specifically on “Empowering Duty Bearers within the Palestinian Police to Protect the Rights of Abused Women.”

Project Coordinator, Ms. Rana Abu Kamil, indicated that the training targeted a total of (40) individuals, comprising (20) female trainees and (20) male trainees. They were trained over a period of (5) training days, with (25) training hours per group, totaling (50) hours for both training groups. The training covered the following topics: (Gender-Based Violence, the importance of raising the level of legal protection – a model draft law on family protection from violence, referral pathways in the referral system specific to shelters and the Hayat Center system for the protection and empowerment of women and families, the Family Protection Unit in the Palestinian Police, the social function of law enforcement representatives and the responsibility of the police in protecting abused women, the Law of the Security Forces, principles of investigation in women’s issues, and following legal procedures in completing complaints submitted by women).

These trainings are part of the project “Improving Justice Sector Services for Women in the Gaza Strip,” implemented by the Center with the aim of supporting the development of technical capacities of judicial actors on the basis of human rights, and improving women’s access to justice and protection services.

At the end of the training programs, certificates of appreciation were distributed to all participants in recognition of their efforts and participation during the training days.
