CWLRCP Concludes Training Program for Public Prosecution Members

In the presence of the Attorney General of Gaza, Dr. Diya al-Din al-Madhoun, The Center for Women’s Legal Researches, Counselling and Protection (CWLRCP) concluded on Thursday, January 25, 2018, a training program for members of the Public Prosecution Office on “Empowering Duty Bearers in the Public Prosecution Office for the Rights of Abused Women.” This program was part of the project “Enhancing Legal Protection for Women in the Gaza Strip.”

Attorney General Diya al-Din al-Madhoun praised the importance of this training for members of the Public Prosecution at all levels, stressing the importance of cooperation and partnership with the Center in future training sessions to serve the cases of women who are subjected to violence.

For her part, the Director of the Center, Ms. Zeinab al-Ghunaimi, welcomed the Attorney General, as well as the Board of Directors, including Ms. Islah Hassania, Chairperson of the Board, Ms. Amal Siam, member of the Board, and Mr. Ali al-Dan, member of the Board, who were present to receive the Attorney General. She also thanked the professors in the Public Prosecution for their commitment to the training and their active participation.

The training program included several topics, including: (Women’s rights under international conventions and covenants, gender-based violence, the role of the Public Prosecution in the legal protection of abused and detained women, the responsibility of the Public Prosecution in protecting abused women and survivors, the Family Protection Unit and the National Referral System).
