CWLRCP Continues Law Enforcement Empowerment Training Series

For the second consecutive week, The Center for Women’s Legal Researches, Counselling and Protection (CWLRCP) continues to implement a series of training courses aimed at empowering duty-bearers within law enforcement agencies on mechanisms for handling women’s issues in police stations. This initiative falls under the project “Improving Justice Sector Services for Abused Women in the Gaza Strip.”

Ms. Zeinab Al-Ghunaimi, Director of the CWLRCP, emphasized the importance of joint cooperation with law enforcement agencies and the positive impact of the training courses in fostering a collaborative relationship. This relationship aims to improve how law enforcement, specifically police stations and the Family and Child Protection Department, interact with women seeking to file complaints. Furthermore, it contributes to improving attitudes toward female complainants, including how they are received and treated.

For his part, Lieutenant Colonel Ahmed Muqbel, Director of the Specialized Training Institute, praised the role of The Center for Women’s Legal Researches, Counselling and Protection (CWLRCP) in empowering duty-bearers within law enforcement agencies. He also underscored the importance of these trainings in developing mechanisms for dealing with abused women and receiving complaints at police stations.

The training targets 112 participants, including investigators, general detectives, female police officers, public relations personnel, hospital police, and judicial police, divided into five groups, each receiving 25 training hours. Additionally, 13 informants will receive 10 training hours.

The training covers topics such as gender-based violence, the level of legal protection (using the draft Family Protection Law from Violence as a model), referral pathways in the protection center referral system (shelters), the Hayat Center system for the protection and empowerment of women and families, the social function of law enforcement representatives, the police’s responsibility in protecting abused women, the principles of investigations in women’s cases, adhering to legal procedures in completing complaints submitted by women, implementation challenges and the art of dealing with implementation issues, the tasks of the informant and reporting mechanisms, and the procedures followed, including case studies.
