The Center for Women’s Legal Researches, Counselling and Protection (CWLRCP) is initiating psychological and social support sessions as part of the project “Promoting Women’s Rights According to the Human Rights Methodology in the Gaza Strip.” The project is funded by the Secretariat of Human Rights and International Humanitarian Law and aims to bolster women’s rights and gender equality in the Gaza Strip, based on human rights law and international humanitarian law.
Project Coordinator Wafaa Helles clarified that the psychological and social debriefing sessions target women survivors of violence from four governorates (North Governorate, Central Governorate, Khan Yunis Governorate, and Rafah Governorate), with a total of 300 women survivors of violence. She noted that four groups have been implemented, targeting 64 women, with each session lasting three hours over two days. Work is underway to implement the remaining sessions during the current month, according to the planned schedule of project activities.
Helles emphasized that the center aims to help women regain their self-confidence and unburden themselves of the problems and difficulties they face. This, in turn, will bring them more psychological comfort, reassurance, and a sense of security. She further clarified that all sessions are being held at the premises of the Hayat Project Center for the Protection and Empowerment of Women and Families.
