The Center for Women’s Legal Researches, Counselling and Protection (CWLRCP) received a delegation from the Canadian Representative Office and partners of the Joint Life Program from UN Women Palestine, the United Nations Population Fund in Palestine, and the United Nations Human Settlements Programme in Palestine, at the headquarters of the Hayat Center for the Protection and Empowerment of Women and Families.
The delegation included Ms. Katherine Palmeter, Cooperation Program Manager at the Canadian Representative Office; Ms. Maryse Guimond, Special Representative of UN Women Palestine; Ms. Kristine Blokhus, Special Representative of the United Nations Population Fund in Palestine; and Dr. Ziad Al-Shakra, Head of the United Nations Human Settlements Programme in Palestine.
Ms. Zeinab Al-Ghunaimi, Director of the Center, welcomed the delegation and briefed them on the Center’s services and the progress made with official bodies in following up on the cases of women and girls who are subjected to gender-based violence, especially beneficiaries at risk who seek protection in the shelter section.
The attendees learned about the nature of the services provided by the Center to women, which include shelter, legal representation, referral services, healthcare, and economic empowerment, in addition to clarifying the challenges facing the Center in providing these services.
The delegation toured the center to view its various departments and activities.
For her part, the Director of the Center thanked the delegation for their continued support of women’s institutions.
In turn, the delegation expressed appreciation for the important role played by the Center in providing comprehensive protection services to women and families in the Gaza Strip.
