On International Women’s Day: Palestinian Women United, Forging Ahead

On the occasion of International Women’s Day, March 8th, CWLRCP from the besieged Gaza Strip extends its greetings and support to all Palestinian women, wherever they may be, both at home and in the diaspora. We stand together, always striving forward to defend our just causes for freedom and independence, to live in a homeland liberated from the shackles of the abhorrent Israeli occupation and the harsh geographical, political, and economic blockade imposed on our Palestinian people in all regions, and to achieve our goals of justice and equality within a democratic Palestinian state.

On this occasion, we must remember that Palestinian women have recorded a long and honorable history, full of sacrifices and acts of heroism at all political and social levels. They continue to defy all obstacles and continue their struggle on all levels: in their families, in their communities, in the workplace, in decision-making centers, and in political and military confrontation with the Israeli occupation.

The Center believes that despite the distinct role and sacrifices of Palestinian women, they still suffer from a culture of discrimination based on their gender, resulting in the violation of their rights and the persistence of injustice and violence against them at the family, social, and political levels. This necessitates a continued struggle to claim these rights through the enactment of new personal status and penal codes, in particular, to ensure equality with men in all rights and duties. Achieving all of this requires a conscious political will from influential parties, decision-makers, and political parties towards achieving national unity and reconciliation, allowing for the establishment of a national political system that responds to the interests and aspirations of our Palestinian people, both women and men, and elevates Palestinian society towards justice and equality.

Greetings to all Arab women and women around the world who are struggling for freedom and equality.

Greetings to all Palestinian women at home and in the diaspora.

A special greeting to the female freedom fighters imprisoned in Israeli occupation prisons.

A salute to the souls of the martyrs of freedom.

Together, always forward.
