CWLRCP Demands Maximum Sentence for Woman’s Killer in Khan Yunis

Date: March 26, 2012

CWLRCP condemns the heinous crime that claimed the life of citizen (Kh.Kh.) at the hands of one of her relatives in Nasser Hospital in Khan Yunis last Friday. The crime is suspected to have been committed against the backdrop of the so-called “family honor.” The CWLRCP demands the imposition of the harshest penalty against the perpetrator, who committed his crime in cold blood, with premeditation and deliberation, by entering the hospital armed with the prior intent to commit intentional murder.

CWLRCP also calls for tightening security measures at hospitals to prevent the recurrence of such crimes, and for taking strict legal measures to stop all forms of violence against women, especially murders. The CWLRCP urges the rejection of any mitigating excuses for sentences, regardless of the reasons or the political or familial affiliations of the perpetrators, in order to achieve the principle of justice and the rule of law and to prevent criminals from escaping punishment under the pretext of protecting family honor.
