CWLRCP Condemns the Murder of Najah Abu Shabab as Another Heinous Crime in the Series of Murders Against Women
The CWLRCP in Gaza condemns the horrific murder of citizen Najah Abu Shabab, 62 years old, from Khan Yunis, southern Gaza Strip, on Tuesday, July 16, 2013. The victim’s husband stabbed her multiple times, resulting in her death. Two of her sons were also stabbed by their father while trying to defend their mother and are currently receiving treatment in the hospital.
The Center expresses its deep concern regarding the growing phenomenon of murder resulting from domestic violence in the Gaza Strip, which has reached its peak with the increase in murders that claim the lives of women and children.
The Center affirms that the increasing crime rates in the Gaza Strip are plunging society into a spiral of security chaos, reinforcing citizens’ feelings of insecurity and instability. This places a double responsibility on the governing authority in the Strip to assume its responsibilities by expediting the uncovering of the circumstances of this crime, announcing the results of investigations into all previous crimes, and swiftly punishing the perpetrators. This will serve as a deterrent to anyone who might consider committing crimes, especially against women.
