The Center for Women’s Legal Researches, Counselling and Protection (CWLRCP) implemented a youth initiative under the slogan “We Exist to Protect You,” as part of the activities and events of the 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence campaign. These initiatives fall under the project “Combating the Root Causes of Violence Against Women in the Gaza Strip,” funded by the Feminist Peace Foundation.
Project Coordinator Professor Wafaa Hallas noted that the event included writing on the beach sand, lighting fishermen’s boats, and a collaborative break entitled “The Sea is Ours.” She emphasized that the goal is to call for addressing the phenomenon of violence against women in all its forms as a collective responsibility, and to promote community awareness to eliminate stereotypical ideas about women and girls, and to establish a culture free of violence and far from justifying violence against women.
She clarified that the event was carried out by a group of young male and female initiators, and was attended by a number of partner women’s and community organizations.
