CWLRCP Concludes First Training on Empowering Public Prosecutors in Cases of Abused Women

The Center for Women’s Legal Researches, Counselling and Protection (CWLRCP) concluded today a training course for duty-bearers in the Public Prosecution Office on cases of battered women, as part of the project “Improving Justice Sector Services for Battered Women in the Gaza Strip.”

Ms. Zeinab Al-Ghunaimi, Director of the Center, thanked the Public Prosecution Office, represented by Attorney General Mr. Diaa Al-Madhoun, for its continued cooperation with the Center. She stressed the importance of this partnership in order to protect battered women in particular and achieve justice in Palestinian society in general.

For his part, Counselor Hussam Dakka, Head of the Technical Office at the Public Prosecution Office, affirmed the importance of joint cooperation between the Public Prosecution Office and civil society organizations in general, and the role of the CWLRCP in particular, in protecting women. He expressed the Attorney General’s gratitude to the CWLRCP for its efforts in training members of the Public Prosecution Office and its positive impact on the mechanisms for dealing with cases of battered women, stressing the importance of continuing this cooperation.

It is noted that (19) agents and assistants of the Public Prosecution Office were trained over (6) training days, with (24) training hours, on various topics, including: (Gender-based violence, the level of legal protection – the draft law on protecting the family from violence model, referral pathways in the referral system for shelters, and the Hayat Center system for the protection and empowerment of women and families, the principles of investigating the murder of women practically, and managing the crime scene in cases of the murder of women, distinguishing between assaults, quarrels, wounds and grievous harm in women’s cases, the principles of investigating electronic crimes related to women’s cases, and fraud and scams in cases directed at women).
