CWLRCP Concludes Training for Family Counseling Unit Staff in Sharia Courts

The Center for Women’s Legal Researches, Counselling and Protection (CWLRCP) concluded two training programs for staff members of the Family Counseling Unit in Sharia Courts, as part of a series of trainings conducted by the Center under the title “Empowering Duty Bearers in the Family Counseling Unit in Sharia Courts to Protect the Rights of Abused Women.”

Project Coordinator, Ms. Zikra Ajjour, indicated that the trainings targeted 24 individuals, including 14 women and 10 men, who were trained over five training days, with 20 training hours per group, for a total of 40 hours for both training groups.

The training covered the following topics: (Gender-based violence, the level of legal protection and referral pathways, communication skills with the public, personal status law and family rights, mechanisms for dealing with women who approach the courts regarding family counseling sessions, in addition to practical applications (case studies) with discussion of forms and drafting of agreements).

These trainings are part of the project “Improving Justice Sector Services for Women in the Gaza Strip,” implemented by the Center with the aim of supporting the development of technical capacities of active judicial bodies on the basis of human rights and improving women’s access to justice and protection services.

At the end of the trainings, certificates of appreciation were distributed to all participants in the courses, in recognition of their efforts and participation during the training days.
