CWLRCP Conducts Training for Ansar Prison Police

The Center for Women’s Legal Researches, Counselling and Protection (CWLRCP) conducted a training course targeting the female officers of Ansar Prison, focused on “empowering duty-bearers within the Palestinian Police to protect the rights of abused women.” Ms. Rana Abu Kamil, the project coordinator, indicated that the training targeted 28 female officers over a period of five training days, totaling 25 training hours. The training covered the following topics:

  • gender-based violence
  • the level of legal protection
  • referral pathways in the referral system for shelters
  • the Hayat Center system for the protection and empowerment of women and families
  • the unified work procedures manual and case management for service providers for women and girls who are survivors of violence
  • the social function of law enforcement representatives and the responsibility of the police in protecting abused women
  • laws of correction and rehabilitation centers
  • laws of service in the security forces
  • methods of dealing with female inmates and their families
  • how to receive and follow up on complaints from female inmates
  • and first aid development for trainees to deal with female inmates.

She clarified that another training course is planned within the project at the beginning of next year, 2022, with which the center would have completed the training of all female workers in the Ansar Prison Police. This training comes within the project to improve justice sector services for women in the Gaza Strip, which is implemented by the center with the aim of supporting the development of the technical capabilities of official actors on the basis of human rights, and improving women’s access to justice and protection services. At the end of the training, certificates of appreciation were distributed to the trainees.
