The Center for Women’s Legal Researches, Counselling and Protection (CWLRCP) continues to implement the emergency legal aid project for women affected by the recent war on the Gaza Strip. The project, funded by an emergency grant from the United Nations Emergency Response Fund (UN/ERF), is scheduled to run for three months, from October 15, 2014, to January 15, 2015. This initiative is part of the CWLRCP’s efforts to provide legal assistance to women through awareness campaigns, legal consultations, and social support in family, property, and inheritance cases, as well as defending women before Sharia and civil courts, with the aim of achieving social and legal justice.
The project aims to improve the legal status of women affected by the war on the Gaza Strip and provide rapid legal assistance to marginalized groups of women, including displaced women, widows, housewives, divorced women, and women victims of violence. It also provides psychological assistance or protection services by referring cases requiring assistance to the “Hayat” Center for the Protection and Empowerment of Women and Families project headquarters.
To date, 130 workshops have been conducted across all five governorates of the Gaza Strip, attended by approximately 4,000 women and men. Additionally, legal, psychological, health, and social consultations have been provided to approximately 600 women. The CWLRCP continues its work in implementing the project’s activities.
