The Center for Women’s Legal Researches, Counselling and Protection (CWLRCP) is conducting a series of training courses aimed at empowering duty-bearers from public health service providers on issues related to abused women. This initiative falls under the project “Improving Justice Sector Services for Abused Women in the Gaza Strip.”
At the conclusion of the first course, Ms. Zainab Al-Ghunaimi expressed her gratitude for the efforts exerted by the Palestinian Ministry of Health in coordinating the training sessions with public health service providers, highlighting the positive impact on the quality of services provided to abused women in the Gaza Strip.
Dr. Maha Al-Amami, Director of the Women’s Health Department, emphasized the importance of these training sessions in empowering health service providers on issues of gender-based violence. She stressed the need to further develop services provided to abused women.
The training targets 60 service providers in the public health sector, divided into three training groups. Each group will receive 20 hours of training on topics including gender-based violence, service provision for women and girls who are victims of gender-based violence, communication skills within the referral system, referral pathways, ethical values for service providers assisting abused women, and the skills and information required to deal with abused women.
The training also covers topics such as investigation and clinical examination, intervention and treatment mechanisms when there is no violence being practiced against the beneficiary, intervention and treatment mechanisms when violence is denied despite indicators from the examination and interview, intervention and treatment mechanisms when violence is disclosed, intervention mechanisms with raped girls, the medico-legal or Sharia report, types of reports and precautions to be taken when writing the report, the importance of the medical report for the abused woman, and mechanisms for providing an effective response service to cases of violence.
