CWLRCP Graduates Second Training Course for Public Prosecution Members

In February 2021, The Center for Women’s Legal Researches, Counselling and Protection (CWLRCP) concluded the second training course for members of the Public Prosecution, dedicated to empowering duty-bearers within the Public Prosecution on issues related to abused women. This initiative falls under the project “Improving Justice Sector Services for Abused Women in the Gaza Strip.”

Ms. Zeinab Al-Ghoneimi, Director of the Center, expressed her gratitude to the Public Prosecution, represented by Attorney General Mr. Diaa Al-Madhoun, for their continued cooperation with the Center. She emphasized the importance of this partnership, which aims to provide support for the protection of abused women and foster joint coordination to continue holding further training courses. The objective is to develop the capacities of workers, while praising the level of interaction, discussion, and recommendations put forward by the participants.

Counselor Hossam Dakka, Head of the Technical Office at the Public Prosecution, affirmed the importance of joint cooperation between the Prosecution and civil society organizations in general, and the role of the CWLRCP in particular, in protecting women. He expressed the significance of these training sessions in developing the capabilities of members of the Public Prosecution on various topics that they were trained on, according to their specific needs. He stressed the necessity of continuing this cooperation due to its positive impact on the mechanisms of dealing with cases of abused women.

It is noted that the training course targeted (20) members of the Public Prosecution, with (24) training hours over (6) days. The training covered gender-based violence, referral within the referral system specific to shelters, and the Hayat Center system for the Protection and Empowerment of Women and Families. In addition, the course covered a number of practical trainings focusing on the fundamentals of investigating crimes of killing women, hacking networks and electronic devices in ways that harm women, and how to protect them. Also covered were managing the crime scene in cases of killing women, and the fundamentals of investigating electronic crimes related to women’s issues.

At the end of the training, certificates of appreciation were distributed to all participants in recognition of their efforts and participation during the training days.
