A delegation from The Center for Women’s Legal Researches, Counselling and Protection (CWLRCP) presented a shield to Major General Mahmoud Salah, Director-General of the Palestinian Police, today in his office. This occurred during a visit by a delegation from the Center, represented by Ms. Zeinab Al-Ghunaimi, Director of the Center, Mr. Ali Al-Din, a member of the Board of Directors, and Ms. Wafa Halas, Training Program Coordinator at the Center.
Ms. Zeinab thanked Major General Salah for his efforts in ensuring the success of joint work with the Center and strengthening the positive relationship with the Palestinian Police Force. She noted the importance of his guidance to personnel in various police sectors, especially in the stations, which positively impacts the vital role the police play in handling complaints from abused women in particular. She emphasized the necessity of working with a referral system between law enforcement centers in all regions and the “Hayat” Center project for the protection and empowerment of women and families, which provides multi-purpose services for women, especially shelter services.
Major General Mahmoud Salah praised the Center’s role and importance in developing staff working in the police services, aiming to improve services provided to citizens in general and to women in particular. He expressed the importance of the role of women in Palestinian society, considering them half of society, which constantly motivates them to ensure their participation in police work. He affirmed his continued readiness to work with the Center in implementing more training courses targeting more personnel in the police services, especially since the training courses are very important for them, both legally and culturally, and for exchanging experiences in more areas that they need awareness and education in.
Mr. Ali Al-Din stressed the need to continue joint relations between the Research Center and the Police to serve abused women and their families.
Furthermore, Lieutenant Colonel Ahmed Muqbel, Director of Specialized Training in the Police, was honored for his efforts in ensuring the successful implementation of a series of training courses implemented by The Center for Women’s Legal Researches, Counselling and Protection (CWLRCP) with the Palestinian Police Force during the months of October and November of this year. This involved (6) training groups, with a total of (135) training hours, during which (122) personnel in the agencies were targeted. At the end of the training courses, the Center honored the training groups by distributing certificates of appreciation to them.
