The Center for Women’s Legal Researches, Counselling and Protection (CWLRCP) received Joachim Paul, the Director of the Middle East and Arab World Office at the Heinrich Böll Foundation, as part of efforts to strengthen relationships between institutions benefiting from donor-funded projects.
Paul discussed with a number of young female lawyers associated with the “Female Lawyers Forum” project, funded by the Heinrich Böll Foundation. The project aims to establish the Forum as a permanent program within the Center, enabling it to hold regular meetings, train and educate young female lawyers, empowering them to contribute to positive cultural and societal change regarding women’s rights, and create a forum of young female lawyers capable of proposing new initiatives and continuing to work with women in the long term.
Paul expressed his admiration for the ongoing success of the Center in assisting and empowering lawyers through the training they receive.
For her part, Ms. Zeinab Al-Ghunaimi, Director of the Center, welcomed the Director of the Middle East and Arab World Office at the Heinrich Böll Foundation, thanking the Foundation for its efforts in supporting women’s institutions and centers in the Gaza Strip, particularly given the marginalization of women’s roles in society and the weak laws that continue to oppress their family rights. She explained that the idea for the Female Lawyers Forum project arose due to the difficult conditions in the Gaza Strip under the blockade and closure, and the need to focus on this sector of young female graduates from the Faculty of Law, as job opportunities are limited for them. She emphasized that the Center’s efforts to develop the Forum will directly serve female lawyers and indirectly serve the efforts of women and the community.
