CWLRCP Mourns the Loss of Activist Najla Yassin (Um Nasser)

With deep sorrow and regret, The Center for Women’s Legal Researches, Counselling and Protection (CWLRCP) in Gaza mourns the passing of the activist sister, Mrs. Najla Yassin (Um Nasser), director of the office of the late President Yasser Arafat, member of the Palestinian National Council, one of the founders of the General Union of Palestinian Women and its former Secretary, who passed away today, Saturday, December 19, 2015, in Cairo, following a deterioration in her health.

The women’s movement has lost today a prominent leader, Mrs. Najla Yassin (Um Nasser), of Lebanese origin and thoroughly Palestinian, who, although departed physically, will remain etched in the collective memory of our Palestinian people as the mother of the Fedayeen.

The record of the deceased Um Nasser is full of distinguished, heroic and militant roles, and she is one of the most prominent Palestinian women leaders in the Fatah movement, who will have a special place in the Palestinian militant memory. She worked from the beginning of the revolution alongside the martyred President Yasser Arafat and accompanied him in all stages of the Palestinian revolution.

We at The Center for Women’s Legal Researches, Counselling and Protection (CWLRCP) extend our sincere condolences and sympathy to the family of the deceased, Najla Yassin (Um Nasser), and to the brothers and sisters in the Palestinian National Liberation Movement, Fatah.
