CWLRCP Participates in Meeting to Discuss UNRWA’s Mechanisms and Plans

Zainab Al-Ghunaimi, Director of The Center for Women’s Legal Researches, Counselling and Protection (CWLRCP), participated in a meeting held today at the UNRWA headquarters at the invitation of UNRWA Commissioner-General Pierre Krähenbühl. The meeting was attended by representatives of directors of human rights organizations in Gaza, the NGO Network, the Palestinian Red Crescent, and the Women’s Affairs Center.

Discussions focused on the current situation in the Gaza Strip resulting from the recent Israeli aggression and the perspective of civil society on the mechanisms and plans implemented by UNRWA since the beginning of the aggression and what it will do in the future. The attendees praised UNRWA’s role in responding to the emergency situations experienced by the residents of the Gaza Strip, emphasizing its future role in supporting the Strip to avoid the effects of the Israeli aggression, both at the relief and reconstruction levels.

The attendees also expressed their dissatisfaction with the position of United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon in justifying the Israeli aggression against the Strip, especially after the start of the first truce, as the occupying power benefited from this position and expanded its military operations, especially in the Rafah governorate.
